Stand Up Paddle Boarding Lessons in Central Virginia

Happy_Stand_up_paddle_surfing

What’s SUP? No, I’m not asking you about your current demeanor, but I, literally, want to know what SUP is. Well, according to Black Dog Paddle it’s Stand Up Paddleboarding–a combination of canoeing, kayaking and surfing–and not only is it fun, but it’s a pretty good workout, too.

Black Dog Paddle brings stand up paddle boarding to Fredericksburg and Central Virginia, where they welcome you to learn the basics, and then take an ECO-tour. An ECO-tour is just about paddling in nature! All essential gear is provided, SUP board, paddle, PFD, and leash.

They use certified ACA SUP instructors, so you are guaranteed to receive the best possible instruction, and lessons cover all the basics as well as safety, strokes, and balance. If you decide to head to Black Dog, it is recommended to bring water, sunscreen, snack, towel and a change of clothes.

And if you’re really adventurous, you can give SUP Yoga a go! Good luck.

Don’t Miss the National Memorial Day Parade

usflagThe National Memorial Day Parade, presented by the American Veterans Center, is held annually in Washington DC, and is an opportunity for thousands of patriotic Americans to come together and honor those who have sacrificed so much in service to our country.

The event celebrates all those who have served in uniform from the American Revolution to Operation Iraqi Freedom, and seeks to educate the public about the meaning of this hallowed day. The parade is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 27, and will begin at the corner of Constitution Avenue and 7th Street and continue down Constitution Avenue to 17th Street.

In addition to the Parade, this is a great time to honor our veterans and famous Americans by visiting monuments this Memorial Day weekend. You can head to the National Mall and experience the amazement while spending time with family.
